Mr. Ian Kuan

Mr. Ian Kuan is an experienced multimedia and graphic designer with over 10 years of professional practice in branding, visual storytelling, and art education. A graduate of Raffles College in Singapore, Ian is highly skilled in digital design, animation, traditional fine art, and art history, and is fluent in both English and Mandarin. Throughout his career, he has contributed creative work for high-profile clients such as Pepsi, Doritos, Lays, and BMW, and has extensive experience as a copywriter and storyboard artist. He has illustrated children’s educational books, published manga, and authored a travel guidebook about Taiwan.

At Maple Ridge Academy, Mr. Kuan teaches multimedia design and visual art courses that integrate digital tools (Adobe Suite, AI art software, Wacom tablets) with hand-drawing techniques and narrative design. He is passionate about nurturing young artists’ creativity and equipping them with strong visual literacy and design thinking.

In addition to classroom teaching, Mr. Kuan specializes in guiding students through professional portfolio development for college applications. Under his mentorship, students have successfully gained admission to top Canadian art schools such as OCAD University, Sheridan College, and Emily Carr University of Art + Design, maintaining a 100% acceptance rate. His personalized feedback and industry insights help students stand out in competitive admission processes and prepare confidently for future creative careers.
