Ms. Rosie Ortiz

Rosie is a highly respected educator and school administrator who brings decades of rich, multicultural teaching experience to Maple Ridge Academy. Since joining Maple Ridge Academy in 2010, she has been inspiring students as an English and Public Speaking instructor. In addition to her teaching here, Rosie serves as the Vice Principal and IELTS Coordinator at WillowWood School, where she previously taught high school English, managed international student programs, and directed IELTS test preparation for over a decade.

At the heart of Rosie’s philosophy is a strong commitment to heuristic, discovery-based education. She believes in empowering students through interactive guidance, helping them develop critical thinking, creative expression, and strong public speaking abilities. Beyond language proficiency, her courses emphasize essential life competencies, including organizational skills, leadership, and proactive problem-solving. With extensive expertise in curriculum design and syllabus development, she builds structured, high-quality learning pathways tailored to diverse student needs.

Rosie holds outstanding academic credentials and professional certifications. She earned her Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a specialization in International Education from the University of Toronto, where she was selected as the Class Valedictorian and received academic honors. Her educational foundation also includes a Bachelor of Arts in English Humanities and a Diploma in English Education from the University of Panama. She is a licensed Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) and holds certified professional English teaching credentials.

Fluent in three languages and deeply attuned to multicultural education, Rosie is celebrated for her warm, positive approach to student communication. Known affectionately by students from around the world as a “second Mother,” she builds strong bonds of trust with both students and parents. Recognized with the Best Teacher Award at Maple Ridge Academy, Rosie remains passionate about teaching, traveling, learning, and guiding every student toward continuous growth.
